DeLion, Joseph (Joe)
On September 15, 1899, Joe DeLion, son of Georges DeLion, mineralogist and owner of la Villa DeLion, drowned at Dawson City.
At the request of an employee of the "Marjorie" on which he was a passenger, the young DeLion tried to get hold of an oar which was floating near the ferry-boat when the piece of wood on which he was leaning, gave way. He fell into the icy water of the river. The attempts to save him were unsuccessful and the body of the victim wasn't found until hours after the accident.

There are strange things done in the midnight sun
By the men who moil for gold
The Arctic trails have their secret tales
That would make your blood.......
