LACHAPELLE, JOSEPH, OMER
Joseph Omer Lachapelle was from the province of Quebec. He was a doctor at St. Mary’s Hospital in Dawson City during the Gold Rush days and continued in this function for the Territorial Government from 1912 to 1922.  From 1907 to 1922, he won the Territorial elections as an independent candidate for Dawson City North.  In 1915-1916, he was one of the eight members of the Administrative Council for the public library.
The name of Joseph Omer Lachapelle is found in many documents and transactions concerning the acquisition or the location of land and mining concessions.  During the years, 1910 his office and his residence were situated at 225, 3rd Avenue North in Dawson City.
J.O. Lachapelle married Angela McMillan in Dawson City on April 25, 1918. In June 1919  the Lachapelle name  was found in about 15 documents  as a witness to various christenings (as Godfather)  and marriages and deaths in Dawson city.
At the beginning of the 1920’s during the years while Lachapelle was a doctor, he became interested in raising foxes.  He became manager of the Northern Fox Ranch Co. Ltd. of Dawson city.
