FOREST, ALBERT - (378 - ENGLISH)

FOREST, ALBERT  -  (378 - ENGLISH)

  ALBERT FOREST, HOCKEY PLAYER
Son of Paul Forest and of Léa Moreau, Albert Forest was born in Mont Carmel, Champlain County, PQ.  He became a clerk in Dawson City for Alarie Séguin in 1902, then at Paul’s in 1903.
From a very young age, he excelled in sports.  In December 1904, he was chosen as goal-keeper for the Nuggets  team of Dawson City who then went to Ottawa in order to play for the Stanley Cup.  The Yukon hockey team arrived in Ottawa after an exhausting 25-day trip.  In front of a vast crowd, they lost the first period, 9 to 2 and the second 23 to 2. However when Albert returned to Dawson City, he was welcomed as a hero.
Albert Forest would probably have been able to make a career in sports, but he became linotypist in Dawson City, then in Juneau, Alaska.  He married Pamela Emélia Joel on October 8, 1910 in Dawson City.  Four children were born from this union.  After the death of his wife, Albert Forest moved to Everett, WA where he died on the 28 of July, 1955 aged 69.
