LEDOUX, JOSEPH (288 ENGLISH)

LEDOUX, JOSEPH (288 ENGLISH)

Joseph Ladue was born in 1855 in Schuyler Falls near Plattsburg in the state of New York, US where he spent a part of his life. His family had French-Canadian origins and François Mercier’s memories confirmed that Joseph Ladue was really of Francophone origin.
In 1874, this Franco-American left to go West in search of his fortune.  Eight years later, he worked in Alaska at the Treadwell Mine.  In 1882 he decided to try out in the Yukon.  He is one of the first to go through the Chilcoot pass in order to get to Fort Reliance where Jack McQuesten and Arthur Harper owned a commercial counter          (store.)
