GILBERT, CHARLES (300 ENGLISH)

GILBERT, CHARLES (300 ENGLISH)

Charles Gilbert was originally from the Lac-St-Jean-Saguenay  area and arrived early in the Yukon.  His name can be found in the list of Klondike pioneers established by Michael Gates.  When he returned to his native region,  with his stories about the fabulous  riches in the Klondike,  he captivated the minds of those  who had the spirit of adventure.  Many men followed him to Dawson City when he returned there. He owned limit/concession no. 41 on Bonanza Creek.  According to Jos Dallaire’s memoires Gilbert made a lot of money in the Klondike, but he also lost a lot because of his associates.
